Cops: officers fire on gun-toting man

Chicago police have arrested a man who they say pointed a handgun at officers on the city's West Side, authorities said.
Officers fired shots on the gunman, missing him, but taking him into custody after a brief foot chase at about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of North Keystone Avenue in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood, police said.
Police also recovered a handgun that they believe the man dropped at the scene, police said. The case was being handled by Harrison Area detectives, who were questioning the officers and the suspect.
Early reports stated that the gunman may have fired upon Harrison District officers, but police said the officers spotted a man with a gun in a gangway as they drove through the area.
The officers involved were in the area trying to quell an ongoing conflict between rival gangs, according to a police source.
The district has recently been hit by several recent shootings they believe are related to an internal strife with the Four Corner Hustlers street gang over drug turf, police said.
No charges have been filed this morning.
