Every year, various outlets put out lists arguing for a particular man or woman as the sexiest of the year. Hotness is subjective. In our most honest moments, we’re all weirdos with some strange fetishes, which is why no scientific formula nor master list will ever be created that accurately measures beauty. Facial symmetry and eye color and callipygousness all play a role, but the order and proportion to which they do vary wildly between observers. That’s why one man’s meh-she’s-okay is another man’s hottest woman alive. There will never be consensus, but that still doesn’t stop people from making lists arguing for one.
The latest 100 sexiest was created by Men’s Health, and it goes a bit further than shuffling around women based on whether they’ve looked hot in the past year. It shuffles them around based on how they’ve looked for their entire lives. It’s a list of the 100 hottest women of all-time, and not surprisingly, the vast majority are alive today. America’s sweetheart Jennifer Aniston topped the list, narrowly edging Raquel Welch, Marilyn Monroe, Britney Spears and Madonna.
I have no idea how to feel about this. On the one hand, I think Jennifer Aniston is incredibly sexy. I think she’s noticeably hotter than any of the four other women I mentioned above. Now and again, I will even watch old Friends episodes exclusively to get another peek at her sporting the Rachel haircut. That being said, it seems incredibly stupid to say she’s the hottest woman of all-time, right? How do we know Cleoptra wasn’t hotter, or Mary Magdaline or Adam’s first wife Lilith? It’s pretty presumptuous to assume we’ve lived through the hottest woman of all-time's prime.
