British actresses Kate Winslet and Kate Beckinsale joined other A list stars on the red carpet for the 69th annual Golden Globe Awards.
Hosted by Ricky Gervais, the glittering ceremony saw Meryl Streep named best actress in a drama for her depiction of Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady.
The Descendants was named best film drama and won a best actor prize for its star George Clooney. The silent black and white movie The Artist got three Golden Globes, including the award for best musical or comedy.
